On the 24th April, 2016, the Sutherland Shire was rocked to hear of the murder of a local resident. Tina Kontozis was at home in Bundeena with her son when her partner entered the house and murdered her.

Why am I writing about a murder on a website about property? Because, as the founder of a local small business I think it’s our responsibility to support our local community. I knew Tina personally as a member of my extended family and she will always be remembered as a laughing selfless mother who cared for her friends, family and everyone whose path she crossed.

As a tribute to Tina, her kindness and generosity, Birdie Property is proud to be partnering with local community organisation Enough is Enough, an anti-violence movement that aims to support victims of violence at home, in the workplace and in schools. For all leases signed through Birdie Property, we will donate a portion of our fee to this organisation in memory of Tina.

We hope this is the first of many partnerships we can form with community groups and not-for-profits in the future. As a company, we aim to put roofs over the heads of our community but that’s just the beginning. We believe that everyone has a right to feel safe in their own home.
